WE HAVE ALMOST LEARNT TO RESPECT OUR WORLD?

News keep talking about poverty, hunger, global warming...but nobody seems to have the answer to solve them. I believe that a lot of poeple are too proud about themselves and they only thing with themselves. They don't thing about the world where they are living and they don't know that one day it can be finish before nature itself finishes it, because of us.

In my opinion the politicians should be more responsibles and not only should think about their money because, there are people who die of hunger. Also there are diseases due to pollution and waste because the rich countries spend money on new tecnologies, so they help about destroying the planet and they create extinction, waste, desertifications, deforestation...

I thing the main problem is money because if money didn't exist men wouldn't want it and maybe all of us would respect a little bit more the world because we wouldn't manufacture too many cars, factories...
But the solution isn't having a lot of money because it's impossible, but I know that all of us can do something to improve all these problems. For example: if we take a bus and not a car, we would help to do less contamination and then, we would be able to reduce global warming.

In conclusion as you have seen, I don't agree with the sentence which says that we do concern about the world, on the contrary, we are destroying it.

3rd oral presentation!

This is my opinion about my part on our third oral presentation;

It was a little bit short, I think, because I was nervous and I didn't say everything I wanted. This happened because I wanted to go faster and then I couldn't go back, so I missed some sentences. I think that my expressions and sentences have improved since the other two oral presentations and now it's easier to express myself more fluently. I used some attractive resources like the power point.We used it which had a lot of pictures for people to pay attention and interest on what we are talking about. I made some movements and gestures and I didn't read from my notes, only I looked at them every so often. I had my ideas organized in a chronological order. Besides, I had been looking at the public all the time while I was talking. I introduced some markers and maybe some new information for someone. Everybody, I think, learnt about the result of having AIDS. Robin helped me a lot with the pronunciation (but when I was talking in front of the class I failed three words). I used fillers like "weaker" and also I used sentence likers. Finally, I noticed the sound of my voice wasn't monotonous and I talked in a fluid continuum.

I only hope you had been enjoying our oral presentation.

Summary of HANCOCK

Hello! The other day I watched a film and I would like to tell you its summary, so let's go...

The main actor is Will Smith and in the film he plays the part of Hancock. Hancock is a tramp who lives in the streets and all the time he is drinking alcohol. Eventhough he helps people and saves lives. Los Angeles's people are angry with him until Hancock saves a man from the train and this man helps him to be accepted by the city's people. While the man was plotting something, they became friends.

One day Ray Embrey, the man, invites Hanconk to go to his house and meet his family. When the man's wife looks at Hancock, she gets surprised but nothing happens. Later, the man tells the tramp that he should let the police catch him. Hancock doesn't agree with him but in the end he takes notice about of what he said. The tramp finishes in prision and there, he is insulted by the other prisoners and he puts the head of one of his cell mattes into the bottom of another. At the end of the month, the police calls him to ask if he could help them and Hancock agrees. The tramp saves the city from blowing up because a terrorist puts dinamite on the bodies of his victims. Hancock saves everyone by cutting one of the terrorist's hand, where the terrorist had the remote control. As the film goes on we discover that the hero and the man's wife had met each other thousands of years ago because they're immortal and they never get old. Also we know that they had been married and the wife left him because he had an accident and forgot everything. At the end of the film, Hancock gets shot by one of the two men to whom he (Hancock) introduced his head into the other's ass. Little by little, both, the hero and his old wife, die because no matter what happens to him it also happens to her. Finally, the hero, with the little strength that he had left, flies far away. If they are separated, both can be alive but if they are together, both lose their powers and get mortal.

This film was good and it was entertained.

DIABETES "IMPACT ON BRAIN POWER"
Studies have determined that type 2 diabetes affects the brain. This happens when the sugar levels in blood fall drastically. A University of Edinburgh discovered that this type of diabetes could produce lost of energy and memory. Also, you get older faster than the average people. There is, at least, 670'000 people in England who have this type of diabetes.

TWO NEWS

PILOT JAILED FOR SICILY AIR CRASH




A Tunisian pilot killed sexteen people because he started to pray when the plane was about to crash and he didn't do anything to stop the disaster. The cause of the crash was a problem with the fuel and the pilot, the co-pilot, the head of the airline and three others were jailed for eight and ten years.

ARTIC TREK TEAM PUSHES FORWARD




Pen Hadow, Martin Hartley and Ann Daniels walked more than ten "quilometres" a day during three weeks on the ice, to calculate the thickness of the ice with a novel mobile redar dragged behind a sledge. They observed that the thickness of the ice is related to the climate. Moreover this job was done in bad conditions like -40Cº of temperature and with a chilly wind.

My opinion about my second oral presentation.

Again when I was speaking, I was thinking that all which I was saying was wrong and nothing had sense. Later when I finished my part of our oral presentation I thought that because of me the teacher was going to lower the note to Robin. This sensation lasted until the day I saw some notes. JEJEJ! Then, I was better.
Days later, when I downloaded the oral presentation's video and I did the transcription I saw that it wasn't bad.

We used some attractive resources. We used a power point which had a lot of pictures for people to pay attention and interest on what we are talking about. Also in the end we showed a video of a typical Australian dance. I did some movements to indicated some concret pictures, that I was refering at the moment. I didn't read from my notes but some moments in concretly I did because I was nervous, more than the first oral presentation, so I sometimes forgot some words. When I was talking I tryed to look at the people that surround me but not all the time I did. I organized my ideas in a chronological order. I introduced some markers and maybe some information new for someone. For example I think that everybody learned something new, including I did. I learnt that the water there spins clock wise that's what Gemma told us. This time I didn't look for some words in a dictionary because my partner is an English boy and when I didn't understand something he told me the meaning. I didn't used any sentence liker. I knew how pronunce all my words and I checked it with Robin, but when I started to talk in front of the class I was very very nervous and I didn't pronunce well some words. Finally I saw that my tone of voice wasn't monotone and I talked in a fluid continuum more or less.

In my next oral presentaion I will control my nerves and I will try to pronounce better.

I think that my mark will be an eight point five.

These news appear in the APN, a Portuguese but English newspaper. It is in English for the English people who lived in Portugal. It is of year 1994. I have found it in my English class. So I can't post videos about it.

First new 5-star hotel in 17 years.

Madeira's newest hotel, the 201-bedroom Cliff Bay Hotel overlooking Funchal Bay, opened yesterday. The hotel is Madeira's first purpose built 5-star resort property as well as being the first new built 5-star hotel there for the past 17 years. Sporting facilities at the Cliff include tennis and squash and a health club. Also it has got a conference room which can accommodate up to 132 delegates as well as three additional meeting rooms. The Resort's location allows direct access to the Atlantic Ocean.

"Education should be fun" says new Headmaster at St. Julian's.

David Styan, was the inspector of all the English schools. He met with the Minister of Education every Monday morning in London. Then he saw an advert for the post of Headmaster at St. Julian's school in Lisbon. He applied for the job and after an interview, they offered him the job.

I have learned:

Summary of the film.

LOVE STORY.

It's a story about a boy and a girl at Harvard University. The boy was from a rich family and the girl was from a poor family. She hated rich boys. The first time they met was when the boy went to the library to borrow a book and she was off with him but he fell in love with her and they started a relation. He played ice-hockey. There was always differences of opinion because of the class status. They went to live together and she developped cancer. For the first time, he realizes how much she means to him. The boyfriend needed money because his girlfriend needs an operation to stay alive. He goes to the bank for money but he can't have money without his father's guarantee.
Summing up, he didn't want his father's help and the doctor told him, she was very bad ans she would die. Time goes by and eventually she died.

It was a very sad film but very realistic.
