My opinion about my second oral presentation.

Again when I was speaking, I was thinking that all which I was saying was wrong and nothing had sense. Later when I finished my part of our oral presentation I thought that because of me the teacher was going to lower the note to Robin. This sensation lasted until the day I saw some notes. JEJEJ! Then, I was better.
Days later, when I downloaded the oral presentation's video and I did the transcription I saw that it wasn't bad.

We used some attractive resources. We used a power point which had a lot of pictures for people to pay attention and interest on what we are talking about. Also in the end we showed a video of a typical Australian dance. I did some movements to indicated some concret pictures, that I was refering at the moment. I didn't read from my notes but some moments in concretly I did because I was nervous, more than the first oral presentation, so I sometimes forgot some words. When I was talking I tryed to look at the people that surround me but not all the time I did. I organized my ideas in a chronological order. I introduced some markers and maybe some information new for someone. For example I think that everybody learned something new, including I did. I learnt that the water there spins clock wise that's what Gemma told us. This time I didn't look for some words in a dictionary because my partner is an English boy and when I didn't understand something he told me the meaning. I didn't used any sentence liker. I knew how pronunce all my words and I checked it with Robin, but when I started to talk in front of the class I was very very nervous and I didn't pronunce well some words. Finally I saw that my tone of voice wasn't monotone and I talked in a fluid continuum more or less.

In my next oral presentaion I will control my nerves and I will try to pronounce better.

I think that my mark will be an eight point five.

These news appear in the APN, a Portuguese but English newspaper. It is in English for the English people who lived in Portugal. It is of year 1994. I have found it in my English class. So I can't post videos about it.

First new 5-star hotel in 17 years.

Madeira's newest hotel, the 201-bedroom Cliff Bay Hotel overlooking Funchal Bay, opened yesterday. The hotel is Madeira's first purpose built 5-star resort property as well as being the first new built 5-star hotel there for the past 17 years. Sporting facilities at the Cliff include tennis and squash and a health club. Also it has got a conference room which can accommodate up to 132 delegates as well as three additional meeting rooms. The Resort's location allows direct access to the Atlantic Ocean.

"Education should be fun" says new Headmaster at St. Julian's.

David Styan, was the inspector of all the English schools. He met with the Minister of Education every Monday morning in London. Then he saw an advert for the post of Headmaster at St. Julian's school in Lisbon. He applied for the job and after an interview, they offered him the job.

I have learned:

Summary of the film.

LOVE STORY.

It's a story about a boy and a girl at Harvard University. The boy was from a rich family and the girl was from a poor family. She hated rich boys. The first time they met was when the boy went to the library to borrow a book and she was off with him but he fell in love with her and they started a relation. He played ice-hockey. There was always differences of opinion because of the class status. They went to live together and she developped cancer. For the first time, he realizes how much she means to him. The boyfriend needed money because his girlfriend needs an operation to stay alive. He goes to the bank for money but he can't have money without his father's guarantee.
Summing up, he didn't want his father's help and the doctor told him, she was very bad ans she would die. Time goes by and eventually she died.

It was a very sad film but very realistic.

HOPES RAISED ON HIV IMMUNE BOOST.

Scientists believe successful tests in monkeys could prove a new type of drug to combat HIV.

The journal Nature reports infected animals survived almost twice as long after a single treatment to raise immune response to the virus. An independent expert said multiple doses were possible, and might eliminate the virus. Current antiretroviral drugs must be taken for life, giving HIV the opportunity to build up resistance. Although millions of people without HIV can't currently receive them, modern antiretroviral drugs have transformed the life expectancy of people with the infection. However, scientists are constantly looking for alternative ways to keep the virus in check. One option is being tested in the US on macaque monkeys infected with "simian immunodeficiency virus" - their equivalent of HIV. One of the features of HIV is its ability to impede the body's own methods for clearing viral infections.In particular, it manages to activate a signalling system in the body's immune cells - which then actually stop the body's immune response.The latest treatment works by blocking that signalling system, which has the effect of boosting the function of "killer" immune cells.
